Claire P. O’Brien is a family law attorney at N.P. Weiss Law, where she works with individuals and families navigating divorce, custody, and other sensitive domestic relations matters. Claire chose family law because it allows her to support people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and she focuses on helping clients understand the legal process, feel supported, and make informed decisions from start to finish.

Claire approaches family law matters with thoughtful preparation, clear communication, and a client‑centered mindset. She is committed to helping clients navigate emotionally charged situations with professionalism and care, while advancing cases efficiently and responsibly. Her practice emphasizes clarity, practical guidance, and strategic problem‑solving tailored to each client’s circumstances.

Claire earned her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law, where she was actively involved in advocacy, leadership, and legal writing. She has authored and co‑authored multiple published articles in academic law journals and has been recognized for her research, writing, and oral advocacy throughout her academic career. Before joining N.P. Weiss Law, Claire gained hands‑on courtroom and client experience through internships and clerkships, including work with the City of Canton Prosecutor’s Office, where she participated in court proceedings, domestic violence interviews, and trial preparation. Outside of her practice, Claire enjoys running with her dog and traveling, and she values staying active and balanced both personally and professionally.

Overview of Educational Accomplishments

Claire brings a strong academic foundation and litigation exposure to her family law practice.

She earned her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law, where she was deeply involved in advocacy, leadership, and legal writing. During law school, Claire served in multiple leadership roles, including President of the American Constitution Society and Treasurer of the Student Bar Association.

Before joining N.P. Weiss Law, Claire gained hands‑on courtroom and client experience through internships and clerkships, including work with the City of Canton Prosecutor’s Office, where she participated in misdemeanor trials, domestic violence interviews, and court proceedings. She also gained experience in legal research, drafting, and client intake while clerking at a Cleveland‑based law firm.
