Fee Structure
-
Deposit (Retainer)
This is how much it costs to start an open case. This money will go into a trust account that will be used to pay for work as it is performed. Once the account is empty, you must replenish the account for future work. We may require automatic retainer replenishment when trust falls below a set amount, and increased deposits at litigation milestones.
You will also be responsible for Firm Advanced Expenses, which are the out‑of‑pocket costs necessary to move your matter forward. These may include things like court filing fees, recording fees, deposition costs, and any additional costs required to advance or litigate your matter.
-
Hourly Billing Rates
Most of our cases are billed on an hourly basis. Different staff members may work on your case per their billable hourly rate. This is so that the staff member best suited to the work can save you money and time based on the experience level needed. You are only billed for the legal work, and not administrative tasks.
Managing Attorney: $400/hour
Senior Associates: $350/hour
Associates: $225-$275/hour
Senior Paralegals: $175-$185/hour
Paralegals: $150/hour
Law Clerks: $120/hour
-
Flat Fee
For some engagements, we can predict the average amount of work it will take and have one price for all of the work performed. For these matters, your only additional fees will be for court costs.
-
Contingency
On a very limited basis, we accept matters on contingency. Under a contingency arrangement, our fee is a percentage of the total money recovered at the end of the case. We also require a non‑refundable flat‑fee deposit to cover initial costs.
Clients remain responsible for litigation expenses—including court costs, filing fees, service of process, transcript and deposition costs, expert or mediator fees, and other necessary case expenses. These costs are separate from attorney fees. Any unpaid costs will be deducted from your recovery before contingency fees are calculated or disbursed.
Standard contingency percentages:
Pre‑mediation or final pretrial: 33% of recovery
Post‑mediation or final pretrial: 40% of recovery
Case Types and Associated Pricing
The amounts below are the minimum required deposit and the likely initial cost to open your matter. With the exception of flat fee representations, these fees DO NOT represent what the total a matter may cost you. For litigation or other complex matters, a higher initial deposit may be required. Please note that these amounts do not include court costs or other necessary case expenses.
